Character Creation Process: Wrenna
Hello all, Baku here, and today we’re talking about the (probably) second-most beloved character in the game — Wrenna.
As we all know, Wrenna has an explosive personality, typical of a dwarf and typical of a blacksmith. She’s one of the characters I created completely from scratch. As such, I was also the one to choose her name. “Wrenna” is the Old English word for a wren (a “крапивник” in Russian), and as you can see, the name has stuck for that family of birds. Wrens are small brown birds that always keep their tails up when they walk. Round and cute, they’re quite loud despite their diminutive size — the perfect namesake for Wrenna. Just calling her “Wren” would’ve been a bit boring, though, so “Wrenna” it was!
Since Wrenna is a dwarf (well, a half-dwarf), I wanted her to have pigtails — the bigger, the better. That was the inspiration for her hairstyle, with two pigtails in the front and a huge braid in the back. She carries a huge smith’s hammer because... well, it’s cute! You know, a short character with a huge weapon? Cute! And naturally, I couldn’t resist giving her huge thighs. Some people may consider them a minus, but Wrenna wouldn’t be Wrenna without them. Plus, I feel they make her look more like a dwarf by giving her proportions that don’t look totally human, something that simply being short wouldn’t have done. She wears overalls and hangs all her tools on her belt, and the bands on her legs are meant to emphasize how plump they are. Wrenna also has a permanent flush to her cheeks since she’s constantly in the smithy, and her hands are rough and perpetually soot-covered, but small and cute at the same time.
Despite her height, Wrenna is quite strong. She loves brawling in the tavern and knocking back good drinks. She’s very hardworking, willing to toil all day without complaint. While she can be hot-tempered, she has a very kind heart. She simply doesn’t know how to control her emotions well and views everything in black and white, with no shades of grey.
Another of Wrenna’s distinctive features is her accent. In English, her accent is quasi-Scottish, while in Russian, it’s quasi-rustic Middle Russian. Writing Wrenna’s dialog can be very difficult, and it always takes extra time to get right, but the accent serves an important purpose in emphasizing that she’s from a different part of the world. Plus, it adds even more to her cuteness in my opinion.
Wrenna’s arc will be closely tied to her homeland and family. Ilias will have to stand by her and help her make the right decisions.

Well in my honest opinion you did a amazing job making a interesting character with a cute appearance I can't wait for the time when I do play this game to meet this character of yours with that said I'll leave you be with your interesting mindset to see what comes next
Probably my favorite love interest in the game as of this moment, rough and a bit coarse but with a heart of gold beneath all the brassy attitude. Love the slightly inhuman proportions she has, but perhaps my only real complaint is the fact that she doesn't have much in the way of visible muscle. Even taking a dwarf's resilience into consideration, forge work is a damn hard business, it'd make sense for her to have at least a toned physique for her upper half. That being said, I suppose her slightly more plump lines help distinguish her from Lifa and Tifa's more muscular designs. Can't wait to see more of this fiery little lass.
